Commercially stable and financially secure
We recognise that financial stability allows us, as a business, to be flexible and better meet the needs of our customers. So, by investing in modern equipment at the right time, and by investing in staff and training we have grown organically without the constraints and financial pressures that can beset many companies in our industry.
Furthermore, through sound financial control and careful planning, Direct Approach has provided secure employment and built a dedicated and talented team able to channel their skills with confidence.
We want our customers and suppliers to have complete trust in us and total confidence that we will always act fairly and with integrity. Being professional and transparent in everything we do is an important part of this.
We have a clear code of conduct which evolves to improve our processes and deliver an exceptional service to our customers, with significant moments in the customer/supplier journey managed with respect. This includes working collaboratively and paying our suppliers invoices on time.
Our role is to ensure that our clients feel confident and secure in their decision to work with us and that the services they have chosen will meets their needs.
We will not discuss, share or receive confidential or commercially sensitive information with our clients’ competitors. Commercially sensitive information includes any information which is not in the public domain including details of price, premiums, costs, margins, marketing and distribution strategies. Where required, Direct Approach will agree to sign confidentiality agreements.
We will not tolerate any instances of bribery and corruption, either to third parties or from third parties. Bribery and corruption involves the offer, promise, payment, transfer, request, agreement to receive or receipt of anything of value, whether directly or indirectly, to or from any person, in order to induce that person to perform his or her role improperly. Offering or accepting a bribe is a criminal offence not only for the individual, but also for the company.
The UK Bribery Act 2010 is the most recent legislation covering bribery and corruption and has the most extensive powers and jurisdictional reach. The Act applies to both public and private sectors.
Recruitment, Training and welfare
As a business we will ensure that access to employment, development opportunity and promotion is:
- Free from discrimination on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, creed, colour, race, religion, age, ethnic origin, nationality, union status or disability
- Based solely on the objective assessment of ability and other relevant job related criteria to ensure an individual is honest, has integrity and the appropriate skills and knowledge to perform their role
- In the case of training and career development, this will be based on agreed needs
Our learning and development policy includes offering training, sharing skills and experiences and learning from mistakes.
We actively promote staff welfare e.g. offering assistance during sickness, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle such as regular breaks while working with VDUs and offering free eye tests.
Health and safety
The company complies with all Health and Safety legislation in order to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all our staff, clients and contractors. Processes are in place to prevent and manage work-related stress, sickness absence and improve overall wellbeing.
We aim to provide adequate medical first aid assistance and work-related incidents requiring medical attention will be accurately recorded and made available for inspection, as required.
We do not have specific environmental goals, as we are in share office facilities. Therefore, to lessen our impact upon the environmental, we aim to:
- Reduce CO2 from energy in buildings by monitoring our use of electrical equipment and switching off appliances and lights when not required
- Reduce CO2 from travel related activity, by sharing transport, using public transport (when practical) and undertaking video conferencing as much as possible. Staff will also be encouraged to consider a vehicle’s emissions before purchasing new or replacement vehicles
- Reduce the business’s annual amount of water used where this is at all practical
- Reduce the business’s annual amount of waste while increasing in the business’ proportion of waste recycled
- Only work with print suppliers that use vegetable based inks within their print processes and Aqueous (water-based) coatings (except where special colours or finishes are required), are
- FSC registered or committed to using carbon-balanced stock. FSC is recognised by WWF as the ‘hallmark of responsible forest management’. Forests managed according to FSC’s Principles and Criteria mean fair conditions for workers, respect for indigenous communities and local populations, and strict environmental controls.
