SETI often looks out to the sky, looking for unexpected signs of alien life that may come from Out of the blue. In the same vein, Digital Marketers and Tech enthusiasts alike (SEOTI perhaps?) keep an ear to the ground and an eye in the sky around June. From E3 to the previously-discussed Google I/O, June is the month for big announcements. One exciting new product for Digital Marketers, previously announced with no release date, has suddenly broadcasted a signal implying its imminent invasion of Social Media.
Hidden in the depths of the App Stores, Twitter Blue has made its presence known. So, what is Twitter Blue? What will it bring to Twitter, and how can you utilise it for your Digital Marketing? Find out with Wildfire Marketing – the number one SEO Agency in Leeds.
What is Twitter Blue?
Twitter Blue is the upcoming premium service for Twitter. It offers additional key features long sought after by Twitter users. Rumours and leaked listings on App stores place this subscription at around $3 a month, which comes to about £2.
This feature was revealed by Twitter around February, alongside a variety of other new features such as the “super follow”, a way for users to subscribe to their favourite creators. For more information on other Twitter features, both recently released and soon to arrive, read our prior article on the subject here.
Benefits of Twitter Blue
Twitter Blue is designed to offer Twitter’s most frequent users frequently requested features. It will not, contrary to some rumours, be a pay-for-verification feature. The only way to get that prized “blue tick” is still to go through Twitter’s strict verification process. Twitter Blue offers such features as:
- Undo Tweet
- Bookmark Folders
- Reader Mode
According to the app store listing, alongside possible features such as tweet editing if rumours are to be believed. Unfortunately, we don’t have much info on the specifics. Many of these features can be easily inferred upon, however.
Bookmark folders would seem to be a similar feature to Instagram’s. Instagram allows you to save posts to specific folders for better organisation:

Reader Mode could be a new way to view tweets, or perhaps a collation of the day’s news. Undo Tweet is a little more mysterious. There’s strong evidence from certain sources that the Undo feature works as a timer. Once you’ve pressed send on that hot take or terrible typo-filled tweet, you’ll have a few seconds to reconsider and cancel it before it goes live to all users, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
How is this Useful for Digital Marketing?
Whilst certain features such as Undo Tweet have a clear use for corporate accounts, certain features require a little more thought. If reader mode is a collation of news, finding a way on there might provide some great exposure for a business. It may also serve as a way for a Digital Marketer to quickly find and subsequently capitalise upon the latest trends, with the bookmark folder serving as a great way to collate them.
Other features may well be included with the subscription. If these have any other benefits for Digital Marketing, we’ll be sure to let you know.
