Do you often find yourself wondering “do I need to change my logo?” or, “do I need to rebrand my business?”? Do you spend ages trying to work out if it’s worth the time, effort and money to go through the process of rebranding? If you find yourself thinking that the branding of your business looks like it needs a bit of work doing to it – the answer is that it probably does. If not, you’d be entirely confident in your business and its branding, which is something we all need if we want to be successful within our business.
As all business directors are aware of, appropriate business branding is essential. Think of the biggest worldwide businesses you see on an everyday basis, you instantly familiarise the entire branding as though you know it almost as well as the palm of your hand. Take ‘Coca-Cola’ for example, you’ve pretty much memorised the white, italic font written over the eye-catching red background without even realising. Every business owner wants their business to be familiarised with the public in such a way, and this is all down to up-to-date branding, as well as the correct branding for your business type.
This is where you might be wondering, “why do I need to freshen up my branding if I’m already confident in my logo?” A generic answer to this would be that if you are entirely confident in your businesses branding, then you simply don’t need to do any rebranding! It all comes down to your personal preferences, however there is a few things you should maybe look into first before making a definite decision.
The most common signs given that you might need to freshen up your logo and branding would be depending on how old it is. If your business has been around for 10 years and your branding hasn’t updated since your business first started up, it is likely it may need a bit of touching up. Even just a simple change of font, colour or overall design. However, it is advised that you do keep some areas of your branding the same and not change too much too drastically all at once, so that it does keep its familiarity with customers/clients.
However, keeping your logo and branding the exact same throughout the entire development of your company may suggest to customers, clients or business associates that your business isn’t evolving – it’s a great but subtle way to suggest to the public that your business is growing, and new services/products are being introduced over time.
The target audience of your business may feel refreshed to see a new logo/style of branding, even if it is just a simple change. It allows them to be aware that your company is updating, you don’t want them to think that the company is in the exact same place as when it first started – so if the company itself is growing, it only makes sense for the branding to do the same!
